Roccie Hill's Highly-Praised Debut Novel THREE MINUTES ON LOVE Arrives in U.S. Bookstores October 17, 2008

Roccie Hill's highly-raised debut novel THREE MINUTES ON LOVE, a bittersweet love story set in the California desert, San Francisco of the rock 'n roll 70s, and the music business of the late 20th century, will be launched October 17, 2008 in bookstores across the U.S.

Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) October 15, 2008 - Roccie Hill’s highly-praised debut novel Three Minutes on Love, Permanent Press, hardcover, ISBN 978-1579621698, p. 288, will be released in U.S. bookstores October 17, 2008. It is in pre-release on-line at amazon.com and bn.com.

The story, told through the eyes of a photographer, begins in the California desert, moves to the San Francisco rock ‘n roll scene of the late 1960’s and concludes in Los Angeles amidst the music business of the late 20th century.

The novel “is a wonderful debut… a powerful romance about the intersection of love, art, and independence,” writes Publisher’s Weekly. It is a feminist love story that carries “an unexpectedly potent erotic charge” continues former People Paris bureau chief Cathy Nolan. Jacquelyn Mitchard, author of The Deep End of the Ocean, adds, it’s “a sweet riff…. a poignant poem about the refusal of hope to extinguish the light of the morning after, a rock-and-roll photo in black and white that will be read all over.”

The Permanent Press, founded in 1978, and known for its literary fiction, receives over 6,000 book submissions a year but publishes only 12. “We are very selective, and found Roccie’s bittersweet love story very authentic; the way she wove the subjects together was atypical for a recording business story, it really captured our attention,” says Judith Shephard, Managing Editor.

Hill’s launch party will take place in Palm Springs, CA at the Just Fabulous Bookstore with a reading, book signing, and cocktail reception on November 19, 2008, followed by a reading tour in the western United States, and an on-line tour.

Roccie Hill earned her Master’s degree in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University, and holds a BA in Philosophy from UCLA. She wrote lyrics for rock bands in the 70s, and worked for a major Los Angeles entertainment law firm before moving to Paris where she conceived the Paris Writers’ Conference and organized the Avignon French-American Film Festival. Her short stories have appeared in several literary quarterlies.

Roccie Hill is also a nonprofit professional, and is currently the Executive Director for Guide Dogs of the Desert in Palm Springs, CA. She brings over 30 years of experience in leadership, non-profit management, fundraising and community partnerships to her work. She grew up in Los Angeles, CA, and her passions are the environment, human services, animals, and the desert, a featured subject in the book.
