If you’re artist and art education entrepreneur Rivky Shimon, you announce plans to license your patented, step-by-step method for teaching children the joys of art; and to help artists across the country set up for-profit art centers that will fill the gap left by cash-strapped school systems.
“I’ve introduced literally hundreds of students to the joys of creating art—I’ve seen their eyes light up and the look of sheer pride on their parent’s faces when they discover that they have this skill and ability inside of them--and simply don’t feel like I can stand by and do nothing as art education all but disappears from our school system,” said Shimon.
In order to give parents and children the opportunities and skills that can only be provided by art education, Ms. Shimon has created Rivky’s Art Workshop—an educational program designed to give individual artists the tools and support they need to create a bustling and profitable art education center.
“Teaching something like this is so wonderful,” says Susan Silverman of the Art Workshop in Orlando, Florida, and a graduate of Rivky’s program. “Word of mouth from our first semester kicked in and our program here is just blasting off now.
