February 28, 2009 - Physician Well-Being Committees nationwide function to provide resources and support for physicians experiencing stress related disorders. These problems include disruptive behavior, substance abuse, sexual abuse and psychiatric impairment.
The above topics will be covered in this one-day conference. David R. Pating, MD, will present "Medical Board Diversion is Gone--Where do we go from here?"; Gregory Abrams, ESq. will present on "Personal Behavior in Medical Organizations: Requirements for the New Culture of Collegiality"; George Anderson, BCD, will present on "The Angry Physician"; Harry Haroutoutian, MD, will present of "Relapse: Development & Program"; and Mark A. Smith, MD, FACS, MBA, will present on "Dealing with the Impaired/Disruptive Physician in the Hospital Setting".
The course objectives of this conference include the following: Recognizing relapse triggers, describing the legalities of dealing with the disruptive or impaired physician, identifying protocols to deal with impaired physicians, evaluating the effectiveness of group and individual treatment, and recognizing and managing the angry physician.
