April 20, 2007 - As long as there exist on the globe the imperialist and dominationist forces that seek after domination, intervention, aggression and plunder, the non-aligned movement needs to continuously develop and enhance its position and role as the leading force in the building of an independent new world. It is all the more important now that the US and other imperialist powers are grossly encroaching upon the sovereignty of many countries.
The non-aligned movement, in order to fulfil its mission, should adhere to its basic ideas and principles.
Its basic idea is anti-imperialist independence, and its fundamental principles are independence of any bloc. Only when its member states thoroughly apply the principles of independence in every activity, can it overcome the interference and hindrance of the imperialists and domonationists, maintain and strengthen its position as an independent political force and sustain its intrinsic nature.
The fighting slogan of the non-aligned movement in the new world is independence against imperialism and defence for peace.
When the non-aligned movement advances under the banner of independence against imperialism and defence for peace, the imperialists would be checked in their rash machinations and a new phase would be opened in favour of the independent development of the non-aligned nations and peace and security of the world.
The member nations of non-aligned movement should consolidate their unity and solidarity to stimulate the movement. Unity is the key to victory in every struggle. The imperialists are still persistent in their crafty moves to weaken the non-aligned movement, a powerful force of anti-imperialist independence of the present times, by splitting and undermining it, while clinging to their power policy. Living up to their tradition of unity, the non-aligned nations should counter such moves of the imperialists with the strategy of unity and keep the same step in the international arena to safeguard and implement their common interests and needs.
Strengthening the unity and solidarity among the non-aligned nations is more urgent than ever as the sovereignty of the member states is in jeopardy under the threat of the imperialists. The member countries should take joint action for full application of the principle of respect for sovereignty in dealing with the pending issues such as disarmament, human rights, anti-terror and reform of the UN.
The non-aligned movement must never tolerate encroachment of the interests and sovereignty of its member countries or allow arbitrary management by certain forces of the international order.
High are the expectations of the progressive people from the non-aligned movement in the new year and rosy is the future of this movement.
The non-aligned nations should launch a vigorous joint struggle against imperialism and dominationism under the banner of independence against imperialism, so as to enable the non-aligned movement to maintain its fundamental principles and noble idea and fulfill its mission and contribute to the building of a new world, peaceful and prosperous and free from aggression and plunder.
