July 18, 2008 - Ridgeview Valley at Deep Creek Lake, Maryland, announces the addition of the first section of their adventure trail system. Ridgeview Valley is located north of the Rt. f219 Bridge in McHenry, Maryland at the end of Gravelly Run Road. This planned community is situated on some o the most scenic acreage in Garrett County and offers a multitude of amenities such as hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing trails, a community center with an indoor swimming pool and fitness center, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, a multipurpose field for soccer, football, and baseball, various playgrounds and a beautiful old barn for community events, and an adjoining amphitheater.
The newest addition to the community, the first half mile of the adventure trail, opened this past weekend as part of the Grand Opening event. The trail begins in the scenic valley near the location of the community center and meanders through tall hardwoods, across two small wooden bridges spanning the protected wetlands, and out into the rolling meadow of the valley bottom and back to the 100+ year old restored farmhouse, currently used as the Preview Center. This portion of the trail is relaxing and tranquil as it meanders along the relative flat portion of the valley. More than five additional miles are planned over increasing difficult terrain, pleasing all activity levels. The compacted stone surface is great for walking, running, biking and even cross-country skiing in winter.
