June 24, 2006 - Idaho -- Renesas Technology Corp., the world's leading microcontrollers company,and Metalink Ltd., a leading provider of high performancewireless and wireline broadband communication silicon solutions, todayannounced that they will be demonstrating the integration of Renesas' SH4processor and Metalink's 802.11n-compliant WLANPlus(tm) technology, enablingcomplete solutions for wireless home entertainment networks. The jointdemonstration will take place in Tokyo, March 6-8, and in Osaka, March 10.
The demonstration will consist of three MPEG-2 (equivalently, six MPEG-4)HDTV streams transmitted wirelessly at wireline quality to three differentrooms, between media servers and several high-definition television sets.
Renesas and Metalink plan to jointly develop product designs thatincorporate both companies' integrated circuits. These solutions combinedRenesas' SH4 processor and Metalink's WLANPlus baseband and radio frequency(RF) devices.
