This project was particularly challenging because the space called for an extreme update. During early design meetings, Sarah, Kirk and the homeowner discovered that the beam running through the middle of the kitchen would cause quite a number of limitations with design. At the onset of construction, it became apparent that the beam had been inadequately installed and it was necessary to remove and replace. This opened up an opportunity to relocate the beam up into the ceiling while still being sensitive to the budget of the project.

Once the space was opened up it was time to get to down to the details. Dark mahogany, flat panel cabinetry was selected and an increased number of cabinets were installed. In another attempt to increase storage, a walk in pantry was designed. Dark quartz countertop and linear backsplash tile brought this kitchen up to date with a more contemporary feel. And one of the most eye catching features is the beautiful walnut floor bringing out the purples from the backsplash tile. Overall, this kitchen's transformation benefitted every member of this multi-generational family.
