Citizens that go to the website and sign up have many options in keeping inventory safe. They start by inputting the serial, make, and model numbers of their belongings into our system. That information is stored safely within our database and from that point on stores and law enforcement agencies are able to search for those items. If an item does not have a serial number, our system creates a unique tag number you can put on that item so it can be searched for in our database.
Having items inventoried this way allows users to flag their items stolen or lost. If an item a user owns becomes stolen or damaged, he or she may create a police report or an insurance claim report directly from the site. If a criminal tries to sell or pawn an item flagged as stolen to a store using our system, the store will immediately see the status of the item is stolen. The store can then contact the authorities instead of paying money for the item that was stolen.
