Despite these facts the Institutions are facing a major setback due to the global meltdown and students from even the premier Universities not getting full placements.
In the downturn, when everywhere there is a job crisis and final placements even at the prestigious institutes are a very tame affair, Maharishi Markendeshwar Engineering College is in high spirits because of its achievement of 100% placement targets. “Our students have got entry into the best of the companies like TCS ,Infosys, Vodafone, Hewitt Packard, Lipi Data Systems, Blue Star Technologies etc and have been offered good pay packets also.” said Dr.S.G.Damle the Vice Chancellor. Placements on the campuses, were affected through out the country due to the economic slowdown and the shrinking job market. “We did get a slow response from the companies initially but hard work was put in by our people who offered expected results.” he added.
The University claims that the average salary received by its students the last year was Rs 2.15 lakh and this year also it has grown, though marginally.“ The average salary package being offered to the students this year is between 2.4 to 2.85 lakh, with 9 engineering students been offered 16 Lakhs per annum” said Dr.N.P.Mehta, Dean of Engineering sciences. Excitement could be felt amongst the students and their parents. ‘My dreams have come true” chirped Raman, who bagged a job in Axis Bank at a package of 2.5 lakhs per year.
