May 09, 2007 - Loggerhead Club & Marina ™ announces that Raymond Graziotto has been awarded the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County Inc. (MIAPBC) Beacon of Light Award for the Marine Advocate of the Year. Marine Advocate of the Year is presented to an individual, group or organization whose work is recognized as supporting, promoting and protecting the sound growth of the Marine Industry in Palm Beach County for the benefit and education of the boating public and the boating environment.
“We are proud that our contributions helped further the cause of the marine industry,” said Ray Graziotto, co-owner of the Loggerhead Club & Marina ™ brand. “Our participation with MIAPBC is instrumental to the fundamental health of Florida’s boating industry.”
The awards were presented Tuesday, April 24th at the MIAPBC’s annual meeting and awards dinner at the Buccaneer Hotel at Sailfish Marina on Singer Island, FL.
Beacon of Light Awards were given in four categories: Marine Advocate of the Year, awarded to Raymond Graziotto; Marine Project of the Year, awarded to Viking Yachts for the Riviera Beach Maritime Academy; Member of the Year, given to George Carter, retired Harbormaster, Riviera Beach; and the Marine Excellence in Media Award, presented to Joe Bonikowski for his years of coverage of the Holiday Boat Parade of the Palm Beaches.
As this year’s recipient of the Beacon of Light--Marine Advocate of the Year, Graziotto was recognized for taking a leading role in representing the marine industries efforts towards accurate tax based upon a marina’s actual income rather than a hypothetical highest and best use valuation, for his leadership role in forming the group, Save Our Working Waterfront, for representing the industry in local and statewide forums, for providing education and leadership in marine life education and environmental stewardship of the county’s waterways and for continuing sound practices in marina operation by seeking the State of Florida’s Clean Marina designation for all of its marinas.
Each of the Beacon of Light Award winners receive an engraved award featuring a scale replica of the Jupiter Lighthouse, designed and created by artist Jack Dupuis of Jupiter.
