    Ray Hill was once sentenced to 160 years in prison on burglary charges. He became a jail house lawyer and was able to get his sentenced reduced to 8 years. He served 4 years and 4 months and was released.

    In 1980 he started a radio program on KPFT in Houston called "The Prison Show" and the show has been running ever since.

    Ray not only provides callers a chance to send messages to incarcerated inmates, but he discusses relevant criminal justice issues on the show as well.

    Ray is credited with getting ex-offenders their right to vote back in Texas (The Ray Hill Bill) and worked for over 12 years to have telephones installed in the Texas prisons.
