September 21, 2007 - Hollywood, CA – Rapper Dave Dylan has been selected for the starring role of Deandre in the film “Man Up,” directed by Tony Topaz.
Dylan plays the role of a high school senior who’s mother dies and leaves him to care for all his siblings and continue his schooling without letting anyone in the adult world know, out of fear his family will be broken up.
The film is currently in production, and Dylan says his own hardships as a teen have prepared him well for the role. He was once a gang member, involved in a shooting, and was homeless for a time as well.
Dylan’s looks and skills as an actor, model, and rapper have combined to give him the talent and skill to play the role of Deandre in a way that will win the hearts of audiences.
In 2005 Dylan was named the Teen People "Hottie Of the Month," and in 2006 appeared in worldwide Sony Ipod commercials and billboards. He is also on the cover of the book "Rising Stars," a book by his mother, Hollywood publicist Toni Shelton. The book is an inside guide to breaking into the entertainment business.
As a child he appeared in advertising for Montgomery Ward, Sears, Old Navy, and also modeled in other national ads.
Through hard work and determination, Dylan was able to progress his career from the streets of Chicago’s Chi Town to a blossoming Hollywood career that is headed to the silver screen and very likely a recording contract as a rapper.
