Rain Or Shine, In Good Times And Bad, ‘Mr. Miami Beach’ Answers City’s One-Of-A-Kind Tourism Hotline (No Pre-Recorded Messages Here)

Named 'Mr. Miami Beach," Michael Aller will be honored on Oct. 14 for his work on behalf of the world renowned resort city.

Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) October 08, 2009 - “Welcome to the Miami Beach Tourism Hotline! Michael Aller speaking! Please leave your name, phone number and room number, and I will get back to you as quickly as possible. Have a great Miami Beach day!”

That cheerful, reassuring voice belongs to City of Miami Beach Tourism and Convention Director Michael Aller, known throughout the industry as either “Mr. Miami Beach,” or “Chief of Protocol,” depending upon the mission in tow. For the past 20 years, lost, troubled, out of money, or just plain stranded tourists have been hearing that message when they contact the City of Miami Beach Hotline.

Celebrated as the world’s only “human” tourism hotline that answers queries 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Miami Beach Tourism Hotline, (305) 673-7400, has also attained the distinction of being multi-lingual and free to the thousands of tourists who have passed through the dynamic resort city. Destination information, emergencies caused by accidents, hotel promises that have been broken, are all on the daily agenda of a service that is as rare as it is helpful.

The City of Miami Beach will issue a proclamation on Oct. 14 honoring Aller for his work on behalf of the world renowned resort city. He will also receive Florida Ambassador of the Arts Award.

“The Miami Beach Tourism Hotline offers an invaluable information service that has helped so many people through the years, giving residents and visitors a ‘live” person who represents our city with extensive knowledge and passion,” said Miami Beach Mayor Matti Herrera Bower. “We applaud Michael Aller, who through the years has handed out his cell phone number to thousands of people and is always on call for immediate and needed reassurance.”

An expert in tourism, public relations, conventions and special events, Aller has for over two decades been strongly identified with the famed resort city as it has proceeded through a period of unprecedented renewal and revitalization. Respected and admired by his colleagues and community, he has been frequently honored, counting among his most recent awards, the Travel and Tourism Hall of Fame Award; recipient of the Public Relations Society of America Royal Palm Award; the Arts Hero Award Arts and Business Council of Miami; and as the recipient of the South Florida Tourism Professional of the Year Award by the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism. For six years, Aller chaired the City of Miami Beach United Way Campaign.
