November 19, 2008 - Pursuing the strategic aim of maximizing productivity of agricultural lands under its control, Russian Agricultural Division is committed to using inputs only of the highest quality. One of the steps for achieving this goal is to create own primary seeds bank of elite and superelite sorts. With this view, RAD will establish the company’s own seed production in every region of its presence, to supply the farms with trusted, high-grade materials.
In August 2008, RAD already purchased 20 tonnes of seed-plot winter rye seeds for further reproduction. During the winter sowing campaign of the current year, the company has planted more than 500 hectares of elite winter rye (Sibirskaya-4 variety). All of this area is situated in the Krasnoyarsk region. RAD plans to use these seeds during the sowing campaign in 2009.
Independent production of seeds must be authorized by relevant government bodies and RAD has already obtained the necessary licenses. They not only entitle the company to produce the seeds for its own purposes, but also to sell them to other farming operators.
Russian Agricultural Division is part of the holding structure GlobalAgro controlled by PAVA, one of the major grain processors in Russia. In RAD, the company has united all its arable units and continues to actively expand its land bank. RAD is the basis for the vertically integrated chain that secures feedstock supplies for PAVA’s multiple processing activities.
