May 10, 2006 - The Indiana Haiti Benefit Auction is preparing for its 25th annual auction on May 27th, 2006, at the Shipshewana Auction Antique Barn in Shipshewana, Indiana
The HBA Auction was started 25 years ago by several people who had a vision on helping the missions in Haiti. It has grown to 6 auctions across the United States. Indiana was the first followed by Ohio, PA, IL, Fl and now NY.
This is under the leadership of conservative churches pooling their resources to help the needy in Haiti. It is an experience that you must see to believe the teamwork and effort that is put in by the local people. This public auction attendance is close to a thousand people on Saturday, auction day, and by 6:30 PM you wouldn’t know that anything was going on at the site as everyone pitches in to move out the merchandise and clean up.
This auction is 100% donation. After the auction is over 100% of the funds from the auction are sent to designated missions in Haiti. All the expenses of the auction are paid for prior to auction day. The board oversees the distribution and holds the missions accountable to make sure the funds actually get to the needy in Haiti.
You will see high quality, locally hand crafted, quilts and furniture along with great food and other quality merchandise at this annual auction.
