Quail Unlimited President Renews Commitment to Arkansas Quail at AGFC Meeting

Craig Alderman, Quail Unlimited President, made a renewed commitment toward resurrecting bobwhite quail at a recent meeting of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

(1888PressRelease) April 25, 2009 - "Strong and focused partnerships are critical to the recovery of all upland game, especially bobwhite quail," emphasized Craig, as he addressed the commission at their headquarters in Little Rock, Scott Henderson Director. "Arkansas, through the experienced guidance of its Game and Fish Commission, continues to put forth an exceptional effort to maintain and increase its commitment to quail recovery on private and public lands. This effort not only greatly and positively impacts quail habitat, but many upland game species such as deer, turkey, rabbits and untold song birds. We are very grateful for this partnership that provides professionals on the ground in Arkansas who are dedicated to habitat restoration statewide," stated Alderman.

Quail Unlimited and the state of Arkansas have joined forces to continue the emphasis on quail recovery with a Quail Unlimited regional director dedicated to helping the commission and the state's conservation professionals in focused habitat work.

QU, through its dedicated chapter members coast to coast, is leading the charge to restore the natural habitat of wild quail and upland game, working with private landowners as well as state and federal agencies across the country with unprecedented partnerships. By putting on local events and fundraisers, QU chapters raise conservation dollars that are then used for on-the-ground projects in their area.

Quail Unlimited, through its Arkansas State Council, will be sponsoring the "Quail Restoration" display being constructed in the lobby of the Commission Headquarters Building in Little Rock. "Showing the public how progressive our state is could not be a better project to help with," stated Tommy Borchert, State Chairman for Arkansas Quail Unlimited and a former board member of the national organization. "We look forward to completing the display, working with the Commission staff, as soon as possible," Borchert said.

Freddie Black, Chairman of the AGFC commented, "We look forward to a great relationship with Craig and Quail Unlimited and are grateful for the visit from its new president to confirm their commitment to wildlife in Arkansas."

Quail Unlimited (QU) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the restoration of habitat for wild quail and upland wildlife. Its almost 300 chapters nationwide raise local project dollars for on-the-ground projects, including private and public land management with banquets, auctions, sporting clay events and more. QU has a highly trained staff of biologists, state and regional directors and dedicated members that work with private landowners and state and federal agencies to restore quail and upland game populations. In the last five years, Quail Unlimited chapters and partners have invested over $23.3 million dollars in quail and upland game habitat expenditures and improvements.
