Boise City, ID (1888PressRelease)
May 25, 2009 - According to the Books in Print database, in 2008 the number of book titles printed on demand rose 132% to 285,394. Although publishing purists may scorn, on-demand printing is clearly here to stay. More proof that the printing method no longer matters is that a new book by Susan C. Daffron called "Publishize: How to Quickly and Affordably Self-Publish a Book That Promotes Your Expertise" (ISBN: 978-0-9749245-8-8), which is printed on-demand was named the Winner in the Writing and Publishing category of the 2009 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.
In Publishize, author Susan Daffron describes a new approach to self-publishing, which eliminates many of expensive pitfalls new publishers encounter. Using the Publishize approach, books are printed only when they are ordered, avoiding an expensive print run and the stereotypical "garage full of books" gathering dust. Publishize also clearly explains the often misleading and confusing terms surrounding print-on-demand printing and "self-publishing companies."
In Publishize, Daffron suggests that self-publishers "forget about bookstores" and take advantage of cost-effective online approaches to book marketing. With a unique background in both publishing and Web development, Daffron has experimented with virtually all the methods described in marketing her other eight self-published books.
Daffron says, "For years, publishing has been a risky business with a high cost of entry. Using our approach self-publishers can experiment with marketing tactics and learn what works without the risk of going broke because of archaic returns policies, distribution, and inventory storage costs."
In addition to being named the winner in the Writing and Publishing category, Publishize was also named a finalist in the How To category. Widely praised by publishing experts, the book also was selected by the National Association of Women Writers to be used as a benefit that is mailed to new and renewing members of the organization throughout 2009.
Publishize is also being used as a sample by a major print-on-demand printer. The book is mailed out to prospective self-publishers and available at industry trade shows as an example of the company's short-run print-on-demand printing capabilities.
Publishize is $24.95 and available through most major online booksellers and the book Web site at Publishize.com. At the site, visitors also can receive the complimentary Publishize newsletter, which offers self-publishing tips and advice. For information on other products, visit: www.logicalexpressions.com
