KLAS Announces the Recent Publication of its Community Hospital PACS Report. In its most recent Community Hospital PACS report, KLAS offers insights shared by providers across the country into today’s PACS market, market trends and findings and performance reports on vendors in the market space.

(1888PressRelease) December 07, 2007 - Orem, UT – As the PACS market continues to grow, more and more community care delivery organizations find it difficult to stay competitive without a PACS solution. With so many options available, deciding which solution to choose may be trickier than ever. Frequently, providers and vendors alike find themselves wondering what drives PACS purchasing decisions.

In its most recent Community Hospital PACS report, KLAS offers insights shared by providers across the country into today’s PACS market, market trends and findings and performance reports on vendors in the market space. Additionally, this study provides a snapshot of today’s community hospital PACS vendor products and compares their strengths and weaknesses against one another, all community hospital PACS vendors and the KLAS HIT average (the average of all healthcare information technology products in the KLAS database).

Since KLAS’ initial Community PACS Study in 2004, provider input has increased almost 83 percent, with over 558 provider participants in this year’s study. Data has been collected over the past 12 months throughout North America, with a goal of monitoring trends and performance scores within the community hospital PACS market. Additional studies are underway for both large acute care PACS solutions and ambulatory PACS solutions. A study on cardiology PACS was recently published in October.

As a product class, community PACS is one of the highest scoring market segments measured by KLAS. The collective segment score of 84.6 is well above the KLAS average HIT score of 80.4. In addition, Functional Strength ratings for this class of products are very high, indicating that providers are generally happy with their PACS solutions and vendors.

Vendors included in this report are Agfa, AMICAS, Aspyra, BRIT Systems, DR Systems, Dynamic Imaging, FUJIFILM, GE, Infinitt, McKesson, Merge Healthcare, NovaRad, Philips and Sectra. Early data also included in the report is for Avreo, Carestream (Kodak), Cerner, Emageon, eRAD, Intelerad, OpenMed, Ramsoft, ScImage and Siemens.
