PressRelease: Cook Children’s Hospital’s New “Zone” Playroom Featuring A StarDome™

StarDomes are now a popular feature in medical centers, including Cook Children’s Hospital’s New “Zone” Playroom.

(1888PressRelease) February 01, 2008 - Fort Worth, Texas On January 15, 2008, Cook Children’s Hospital celebrated the grand opening for their hockey themed playroom, title the “Zone”. The Zone is an awesome environment for the young patients of Cook Children’s Hospital to play and enjoy their time with their families and friends. The Zone was generously funded by the National Hockey League, the National Hockey League Players’ Association, and the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation. Created by the leader in hospital design, HKS Architects, Inc, the interactive room has many cool features including a ceiling replica of the Texas Dallas Stars Stadium, a movie theatre, and a fiber optic StarDome by Numinus, LLC. Cook Children’s Hospital opted for upgraded lighting control options for their 4’ StarDome, with a Lutron Grafik Eye and a sequencer which creates a continual sunrise/ sunset effect. The StarDome, for those unfamiliar with the product, is a fiberglass ceiling dome with an airbrushed sky mural and fiber optic stars that depict an accurate constellation starfeild.

Infusing the reality of a beautiful night sky with the technology of modern day lighting and art, the StarDome™ is a soothing and captivating feature to observe. “Everyone loves the Stardome! It’s pretty cool”, says Glen of Linbeck Construction. And as far putting the StarDome in the Zone, “The installation went great and the support [we got] from Numinus was very helpful” stated Randy Slagle of Fisk Electric.
Karen Murry of Hossley Lighting specified the lighting to be used in the Cook Children’s Hospital Zone room, including the StarDome. Now Numinus and HKS Architects are working side by side on three more hospital projects, including custom shaped StarTiles™ for Banner –Thunderbird Medical Center in Phoenix, and StarTiles and a StarDome for University Medical Center in Tucson.

The use of StarDomes in hospitals to offer a soothing experience has become a trend over the years. Currently Numinus’ StarDomes are featured in 10 hospitals and medical centers across the U.S. To see all the specifics and locations of these Numinus’ projects, go to http://numinus.com/medical.html
