Prescription Drug Benefits Stay Under The Health Insurance Radar

As it's being discovered that many of the major health insurance companies are leaving many Americans uncovered, prescription drugs continue a steady inflation in cost

Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) August 08, 2007 - Touting their medications and miracles, prescription companies have recently taken on some risky ventures. We have to wonder if it is really ethical for the drug companies to market products that are not properly time tested. Some estimates for pharmaceutical industry advertising expenses are upwards of 2 billion dollars. With that type of budget, you can bet these private investors want to see a return and sometimes it means a sacrifice in ethics. In these cases, you can be assured that there will be many "leeches" of the system of business. Not only will private groups then be lobbying government officials (specifically FDA and EPA), but also they will be well embedded with the doctors. The corporate lobbyists act as a front for the pharmaceutical relationship with the politicians, doctors and pharmacy outlets where the end user is reached and at the point of sale. Point of sale health care is a huge percentage of the market, since many people only discover at the last minute that their insurance won't cover a certain type of drug and therefore they are left to paying cash for their prescriptions unexpectedly. For these reasons, insurance has become increasingly complicated to understand. Insurance companies such as Kaiser for instance have managed to keep a relatively clean record, while other companies such as Blue Cross has received a bit of bad press this past few years.

Discount health and dental benefits plans such as DentalAndHealthPlan.com have been on the rise in recent years, thanks to tough restrictions on "normal" health insurance plans. Restrictions and limitations such as annual caps and high deductibles, health questions and age limitations. All these and more deter people from insurance policies and therefore cause many people to put off the care they need. This could be seen as the most destructive and costly pattern of the health care crisis. Think about it the next time you are in a public place. Look at the people around you and ask yourself "Is America moving in the right direction?" You'll likely notice that most people really are over weight and out of shape. Many people aren't concerned about changing that. This is a shame though, because not only is it an aesthetic problem (Let's face it, most people aren't beautiful) but it's also a financial problem as well. You can only imagine the staggering amounts of money that would be saved if Americans would learn to prevent health conditions and problems. The fact is, as we age, we lose hormone production. In the bible, it says that mans days shall be 120 years. Is it true that people are not living to their full potential. I'm not saying that you have to be Christian to see that people are not living very healthy lives. We have corrosive foods staring us in the face constantly asking us to buy. Hydrogenated oil, MSG (monosodium glutamate), pesticide treated foods, processed meats and of course processed and adulterated wheat germ.

The point here is that we need to look more deeply at the health problems we try to solve through the public. Every time we contribute to a major research organization, we give them an incentive to keep asking us for help. The pharmaceutical developers make big money. It is no coincidence that 45% of Americans used prescriptions last month. This is by the design of big profit seekers. These people don't always have the publics best interest in mind. We cannot fall prey to this kind of manipulative capitalism and we must truly hold our ethics to the highest standard and encourage doctors and scientists to do the same. This should be done using compensation that rewards individual doctors and scientists with residual incomes based on their ability to provide a quantity of quality products and services. The ability to eradicate disease should be the utmost priority. Treatment is great, but must be identified for what it is, potential for profit. The doctors who should be paid the most are the ones who can teach their talent and work. This allows for congruency on the part of professionals in the medical field. This allows capitalism to take place, but based on development of new innovators in the industry. Until our health problem prevention goals become the main goal, we will only be missing the point.
