October 29, 2007 - Christine Felmore, of Family Review & Award Center announced today that the Power Up To Read Program, By Telecom Pioneers, has been chosen as a winner of the prestigious Platinum Award.
Felmore shared that the Power Up To Read Program was found to be exceptional by the panel of judges at Family Review Center, because it not only tackles the challenge many students face, in the area of reading comprehension, but they also offer a complete program online which is free to the online community. This will be found to help thousands of children who would not otherwise be able to receive the critical help they need in this area.
Felmore Cited “Studies have shown that children in America often lack in the area of reading comprehension. When there is lack in this area, the child suffers in all areas of study. By finding the problem early and treating it, with a program like this, we will see children begin to succeed in their studies, that have been struggling or failing prior.”
“This is a systematic yet easy to customize program. Children log in and can choose which activity they wish to do at that time. Choices range from journal writing, to reading the stories available (at the multiple levels available) and then writing about what they have just read, which reinforces the reading comprehension skills. This freedom of choice allows students the ability to make their own choices in how they learn, using the tools made available to them how they want and when they want,” said Christine.
