April 15, 2008 - Northbrook, Ill (April 2008) Chicago area-based be.ology® has become wildly popular for its tees displaying positive messages like be.kind™, be.you™, be.strong™ and be.inspired™. This spring the company launches its Charity of The Month program where sales of the be.hopeful™ shirt will benefit a variety of not-for-profits.
Created by lifelong friends Alison Smetana and Linda Horwitz, be.ology’s focus is to create an inspirational lifestyle company that encourages people to surround themselves with positive messages and energy to be who they are truly meant to be. The duo is passionate about spreading positive thoughts, words and energy to initiate a movement of compassion, acceptance and empowerment in the world.
Part of their commitment to spreading the power of positive thought includes the company’s dedication to the world community. This April proceeds of the be.ology’s be.hopeful™ shirt will benefit Worldview Education and Care, a new organization dedicated to providing education, healthcare assistance and basic living necessities to Huruma, Tanzania and Chicago programs for the underserved and disadvantaged groups. The shirts are available at www.beologyonline.com.
“We were so happy to learn about Worldview Education and Care,” said Alison Smetana. “Like be.ology, this foundation is truly committed to making the world a better place for everyone. We hope to raise awareness of the Worldview Education and Care and help them fund initial programs to help those in Tanzania.”
Worldview Education and Care Inc. was founded in 2007 by Chicagoans Ann Mitchell Avery and Robert Dean Avery. The Foundation was created after a visit to Tanzania, Africa where they were introduced to Zacarhia Nassary, the founder of the Huruma Children’s Centre and Orphanage. They were so inspired by the generosity of Zacarhia, the children, and a modest school that was surviving on a wing and a prayer; they quickly planned to return to see the children at Huruma. Their desire to help was quickly apparent. They wished for a better life through education and healthcare for Huruma’s 16 children, who, with relatively little support, could reach their individual goals.
Upon returning to Chicago, Ann Mitchell Avery, a jewelry designer hosted a fundraiser selling jewelry in her home. Friends donated books, purchased school clothes and asked how they could help their efforts to support Huruma, and Worldview Education and Care was officially born.
Worldview Education and Care strives to provide educational, healthcare assistance and basic living necessities to Huruma, as well as Chicago programs for underserved and disadvantaged groups. Since its inception, the Foundation has discovered that the donation of modest necessities such as clothing, tuition fees and a vehicle to transport the children to the hospital can go a long way towards allowing children to set and reach goals for themselves.
The Foundation's long-range goals include funding long term maintenance and support of Huruma Children’s Centre and Orphanage, scholarships, educational programs, self-esteem enhancement, and youth empowerment workshops for children and young adults. The Foundation has very ambitious goals for the underserved of Chicago's population as well. Worldview Education and Care Foundation seeks to empower underprivileged youth through education to rise above their circumstances and become successful individuals.
