April 19, 2007 - In a day and age where most think that the romantic and emotionally driven poetry of the eighteenth-century has dispersed into thin-air, most have given up hope of ever setting eyes on poetry of a John Keats or a Percy Shelly caliber. Most up and coming poets of today want a place where they can grow and share their work and receive feedback in hopes of evolving their work to its highest peak. Even seasoned prodigies of the pen search for such a place where they too can share their inspirations, experiences and journeys as writers.
Lance W. Toohey long for such as place too, after his positive experience with the old poets.com, shut down. Lance and other members of the old poetry site he was affiliated with, long to recapture the lasting friendships they shared. The old site functioned as a family, offering constructive feedback and support to fellow members who were looking to enhance their writing skills.
“After the old poets.com closed down, everyone I spoke too missed the friendships that were created there, we all went off in different directions and so many great friendships created on that site just seemed to vanish. I was determined to try to do something about it and the only way I could think of was to start my own site” said Toohey which was how the new PoetryAsArt.com was formed, an innovative creation of husband and wife duo Lance and Michelle Toohey. The thought of combining Poetry and art was born after Michelle Toohey decided to create airbrush prints for some of her husband’s work, she is always seeking inspiration for new works and the site became an easy way for her to express her art form as husband, Lance, presents her with a poem “and she gets out her
paint and just goes wild” said Lance Toohey.
“The sites main function is to "feed" the passion within us all, all of us who love poetry.”
This site is truly unique, a "home" for friends to visit, to chat, to express, to give help to new writers, in all to be a place that when you log in you know a friend with the same passion as yourself is at the other end. Through the site you can also have your very own poetry and art immortalized on canvas or Choose from any of Michelle Toohey’s selection of airbrush designs, which makes a unique Valentine’s or Mother’s Day gift.
If you are a lover of poetry and looking for a place to share your poems, gain new friends who share your same passion or curious to find out how Michelle transforms her husband’s or your poems into art--then--stop by PoetryAsArt.com, join the fun, while sharing in Michelle and Lance Toohey’s dream.
