Denver, CO (1888PressRelease)
April 25, 2008 - Denver’s indie rocker Michael James will be releasing his third EP entitled, “To Raise an Army for Love” on June 24, 2008. Produced by Grammy-winner John Seymour (U2, Dave Matthews Band, Bouncing Souls) and mastered by Dom Maita (Plain White T’s, Fall Out Boy, Herbie Hancock), this time around, James' new EP explores a more poignant emotional core than his past works.
Based on his skills using unique imagery, universal narrative, and imaginative storytelling throughout his songs, James has been called a “musical architect.” Playing on that concept, “To Raise an Army for Love” revolves around two central ideas of love and war. James’ songs delve into the battles that are fought every day for the sake of people we love. He shares, “I have always been intrigued by the fact that those ideas can be so opposite and contrary to one another, but still have a common thread at their core… they almost need to coexist to exist at all. I think where you find love, many times you will also find a fight going on just to keep that love from dying.”
In “To Raise an Army for Love,” James escapes the notion of a typical “love song” without abandoning the most important element in his music: his undeniable gift for pouring his heart into every song and allowing the listener to momentarily become a character in his song. James says, “My ultimate goal is to make music that moves people the way music has always moved me. If I can do that, I’m doing my job.”
Michael James has seen the light of success before, his last EP, which was released in 2005, was received by enthusiastic reviews, nominated for a Kweevak.com Music Award, and scored regular rotation on independent radio throughout Colorado.
