May 11, 2008 - Denver, Colorado-- Pocket Shot has kicked off their national anti youth drinking campaign with key retail partners nationwide to fight underage drinking. Since its inception in 2000, Pocket Shot has recognized that attempts by minors to purchase alcohol as well as adults illegally purchasing alcohol on behalf of minors are persistent problems.
The company refrains from marketing practices (including product design, advertising, and promotional techniques) that have substantial underage appeal and have take reasonable precautions in the time, place, and manner of placement and promotion to reduce youthful exposure to other alcohol advertising and marketing activity. The Company has committed to distributing Public Service point of sale materials throughout the United States to support this campaign.
The key component to the campaign is Public Service Announcements, marketing collateral and signage that will be distributed at retail point of purchase. The campaign will commence with press launch events during the week of August 11, 2008 to coordinate with the Back to School season and in advance of Labor Day weekend.
Pocket Shot has taken additional steps to limit access to alcohol by: displaying its products behind store counters to keep products out of reach of under age youth, created tamper proof packaging to reduce theft, created very identifiable age appropriate packaging, eliminated sales to on line retailers, provide Anti-Drinking materials to retailers at point of-purchase, and support National Anti-Drinking campaigns to limit access to under age drinkers.

Prevention
Talk with your teen about underage drinking. LISTEN. The key to effective communication is to be a good listener. With teens, it is important to make the time to listen to them, especially when they’re ready to talk. KNOW WHAT TO SAY. Find your own words, times and places that are comfortable for you to talk. MAKE TIME. Establishing regular “together time” with your child does a lot to encourage talking. TALK ONE ON ONE. If you have more than one child, try to talk to each one separately, even when it’s about the same topic.
