June 04, 2008 - PLYMOUTH, MA - As part of its community service efforts, Plymouth North’s freshman class took it upon themselves to continue the effort to support our troops with a variety of items ranging from magazines to non-perishable food to toiletries. The top collectors from this drive are the recipients of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac’s Driven Student award for May.
The care package effort took place as part of a competition among the freshman class. Divided into teams, the team collecting the most items won. The Red Team won and for the their efforts, the top eight contributors were treated to a pizza party, courtesy of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. In addition, the top two collectors from the remaining teams were also invited to the luncheon.
“The soldiers receiving these care packages have some sort of connection to Plymouth North, either as former students or relatives of current students. So these gifts were not just for strangers, but family and friends,” said Erin Kennedy, who along with Peg Foley serves as the freshman class advisor. “We’re quite proud of the efforts these students in showing compassion and caring for our troops. They are most deserving of Tracy’s Driven Student award.”
Taking part in the festivities were: Tyler Marcotte, Chantelle Cyr, Dan Gordon, Hillary Ruggiero, Liam Cosgrove, Kaila Braley, Cara Goodman, Corey Sears, Sam Rudolph, Danielle George and Sean Turke.
Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac’s Driven Student program recognizes Plymouth high school students for their performance and achievements in and out of the classroom. Awarded on a monthly basis, recipients are selected by faculty and advisors at the student’s given school.
