| With so much emphasis in today's society on outward appearance and on being thin, oftentimes heavier girls find it difficult to accept themselves because they are not considered "acceptable". More and more plus size teens, having poor self-images, are turning to negative influences such as eating disorders, drugs, alcohol, gangs, promiscuity and various compromised lifestyles in order to "fit in". The Plus Teen USA Pageant encourages and guides plus teens to accept themselves in the skin they're in and to become the best they can be; fit and fantastic- from the inside, out. |
