Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) August 25, 2009 - Vocalo.org invites guests from the Lake Michigan Region to discuss topics of the day.

Full week’s playlist can be viewed here: http://vocalo.org/explore/content/46864. Some highlights:

August Editorial: “Lake Effect":
Tuesday, August 25, 5 to 6 p.m. Having completed over 800 miles, Loreen Niewenhuis continues her Circle Tour trek around Lake Michigan. In late August, she will walk the 70 miles from Manitowoc to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And, on Labor Day, she will take part in the Mackinac Bridge walk.

Michael Jackson Town Hall:
Wednesday, August 26, 5 to 7 p.m. Many plans have been debated for permanent memorials of Michael Jackson in Gary, Indiana, since his death in June. People continue to stream past the family's childhood home. We're going live to the neighborhood around 2300 Jackson Street to ask the neighbors how they would honor the King of Pop and to tell their stories. Some people are planning a massive block party for August 29 to coincide with the singer’s death and his burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles. We're doing this in conjunction with Youth Family Community Renewal Learning Center as part of an audio documentary on the Jackson's hometown, which will debut later this year on Vocalo.org. Media are welcome. The Town Hall will be held at the YFCRLC Building (the former Douglas Elementary School) at 2700 Jackson Street, Gary, Indiana.

Human Interest:
Tuesday, August 25, 3 to 3:20 p.m. Donna Gonzalez is the director of the Lake Station, Indiana, Boys & Girls Club. She was recently awarded the Humanitarian of the Year Award by Mayor Keith Soderquist and the City of Lake Station for her efforts in the community during residents affected by a flood last fall.

Sports:
Thursday, August 27, 12 to 1 p.m. The Chicago Nerd Social Club comes to discuss their upcoming event Football 101, on September 1, when they'll school participants on the basics of football and fantasy football league play.
