September 16, 2008 - IBC 2008, Amsterdam – Pixelmetrix, the global expert in Preventive Monitoring for digital television and IPTV networks, and Skyline Communications, the global leader in multi-vendor network management solutions for the HFC broadband, satellite, IPTV and broadcast industry, announced the integration of their broadcast monitoring tools to be featured at IBC. The collaboration generated a fully automated, service-oriented provisioning of Pixelmetrix DVStation product line into the DataMiner network management platform. Now, the DVStation-generated video thumbnails are available in the DataMiner Visual Overview topological UI for intuitive confidence monitoring.
Said Danny Wilson, Pixelmetrix President & CEO, “The product of this synergy brings flexibility at various points within the broadcast network, offering operators end-to-end visibility into quality of service. TV operators and service providers worldwide rely on Pixelmetrix for their Test, Measurement and Monitoring needs - deploying our products with the DataMiner eases tracking complex broadcast ecosystems. Proven integration with other processing blocks in the workflow enhances this synergy. A complete arsenal of monitoring probes ranging from the head end and remote sites to the edge of the transmission network provides a uniformly in-depth view into 24/7 operations. With our DVStation-210 looking after headend operations, the DVStation-IP3 in IP distribution networks and the DVStation-Remote as well as the DVStation-Mini in the field, monitoring data points gathered can be aggregated and correlated in a powerful network management system such as the Dataminer. Should something go wrong, every probe in the DVStation arsenal is designed to double up as an analysis tool embedded in the network – preventing downtime and unnecessary ‘truck-rolls’.”
"A tight integration between the end-to-end network management platform on one hand, and solutions that continuously monitor quality and performance of digital services on the other hand, is indispensable these days for operators determined to succeed in an ever more demanding and competitive market," commented Ben Vandenberghe, Sales & Marketing Director at Skyline Communications.
He added, "The Pixelmetrix solutions provide DataMiner the crucial information about service quality and availability, and this enables DataMiner to unleash some of its unique features and capabilities including for example intelligent redundancy switching, real-time SLA monitoring, root-cause-analysis and powerful reporting. The enhancements that have been made enable operators now to deploy the combined solution faster and more efficiently than ever before, while the integrated video thumbnails provide users with a live perspective on the services. And those also fit very well in our DataMiner Cube, the new user-centric DataMiner UI that was announced at the DataMiner Release Seminar earlier this year, and which has ever since created quite a buzz in the industry."
Highlights at Pixelmetrix booth 1C39 include the new VISUALmpeg Qualify™ that provides static file-based video and audio analysis for VOD content, ready-for-shipment Electronic Couch Potato™ (ECP™), an after the network probe that measures and reports the end user's Quality of Experience (QoE) for delivered video services, DVStation-Mini DVB-T that offers affordable RF and TS measurements and analysis. The integrated solution is on demo at Skyline Communications Booth 1C14.
Pixelmetrix develops a host of IPTV and Preventive Monitoring systems that offer unique attributes and versatility, allowing operators to achieve end-to-end visibility and keep tabs on their network architecture.
IBC is held from September 12 to 16 at the RAI Convention Centre, Amsterdam.
