May 07, 2007 - Some pointed questions from the author...
Hmmm … If Jesus is God, then how come HE has a God?
He said it Himself:
“I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God" John 20:17 .
And: “ Father …that they may know You, the only true God , and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent " Jn 17:1,3
All the way, even to the end of the Book:
“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God …" Rev.3:12
Here's a new wrinkle on an old theology. Pivot Point, a 176-page book of creative nonfiction mixed with the author's own poetry, raises a concern that mainstream Christianity may be turning toward a Jesus-only, 'Jesus is our God' religion. Author Fern Holm believes the current trend, now evident even in some mainline denominations, has sidestepped one very important point - a pivotal point, in fact. The book’s subtitle pins it down by asking, “Is Jesus your God or the SON of your God?" Many Christians would say He’s both. Pivot Point says He's not.
Both, that is.
*Does the author deny the divine nature of Christ? “Not at all! God (also called ‘Father’), the Son of God, and the Spirit of God share the same divine (everlasting) nature, but not the same office or function. I have the same human nature as George W. Bush, but that doesn’t make me President... nor a ‘lesser’ human being, just because I‘m not. President, that is.”
*What about the Trinity? "Yes, there is a Trinity, a ‘tri-union’, defined even in the Old Testament: “The LORD God and His Spirit have sent ME (the Messiah)" Isaiah 48:16, but it is undeniable, at least to the objective reader, that ‘the LORD God’ is the Father alone."
Taking on a theological giant, Holm spotlights the absence of this element in the ‘traditional’ slant on the Trinity, which may have caused Christianity to spin off center, bringing us to the point where Jesus is no longer the Son, and God is not the Father. Venturing, also, into the realm of the prophetic, Pivot Point claims to have captured an element in the scriptures which is often missing from today's evangelism and presents evidence that, when this element is restored and preached along with the message of salvation through Christ, the resulting synergy could trigger “the final revival" and - ultimately - the return of Christ.
So, you ask, what’s the big deal if people choose to make Jesus their God? Ever heard of the Antichrist? Well, as the author explains it, if you can believe 1 John 2:22, “He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son ." “For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ " Jude 1:4. By this standard, there’s a whole lot of “Antichrist" going on… and not much worship of the only true God, according to Fern Holm, author of Pivot Point.

He will turn hearts to the Father… in the final revival
