April 17, 2007 - As a high school student, Mr. Jerome Herrera loved to write. He wrote poems, riddles, essays, jokes, everything! One morning he woke up to find a desk full of his works. He then realized: thousands of kids my age are probably experiencing the same thing!
Armed with a computer and basic knowledge of web design, Jerome set out to create a website which aims to be a venue wherein Filipino Writers can show off their works. Writers all over the country responded eagerly albeit slowly.
"It's better than just letting our essays collect dust", one member said.
Today, Pinoy Penster Community has been home to many Amateur and Professional Filipino Writers. In the future, Mr. Herrera hopes to make PPC more interactive and lively by hosting writing contests and conducting online writing workshops.
Currently, the Pinoy Penster Community is busy with a big project. A compilation of stories, poems, and essays (works that were submitted to the site) will be published sometime next year. PPC hopes to make Filipino creativity visible worldwide through this book.
