Pickles Auctions Wins NSW Government Contract

Pickles Auctions are celebrating success after securing a five year contract to sell NSW Government cars, trucks and machinery throughout regional NSW.

(1888PressRelease) February 28, 2009 - Pickles Auctions has won the NSW Government tender, enabling the auction house to sell thousands of quality ex-government vehicles, trucks and machinery every year for the next five years.

The goods will be auctioned out of Pickles major regional centre’s, with the agreement said to be estimated at $125 million.

The NSW Government tender was pursued by Pickles, in conjunction with Rundles Auctions, Wagga Wagga.

Government motor vehicles, including those from local councils, make up 70 per cent of auctioned vehicle lots, while the remaining 30 per cent is composed of fleet and finance vehicles.

Motor vehicles are consigned from the Department of Primary Industries, Corrective Services, Health, Lands, Environment and Climate Change, State Water and Education departments from anywhere in NSW.

Many are less than two years old and some still come with the manufacturer’s warranty still valid. All government vehicles are sold with registration papers and a current roadworthy certificate.

This contract was also supported by the opening of two purpose built sites in Dubbo and Tamworth over the last 12 months.

Pickles Auctions Tamworth opened its new site to the public in January of 2008 and Pickles Dubbo invested $3 million in constructing its new Yarrandale Road branch. The official opening day was held on 29 January 2009. The two branches will hold motor vehicles auctions fortnightly and trucks and machinery will be sold on a bi-monthly basis.

Newcastle and Canberra will also auction thousands of ex-government items. Weekly motor vehicle auctions will be conducted, with a monthly truck and machinery auction in Newcastle and bi-monthly truck sales out of Canberra.

Across the country Pickles Auctions now offer fixed price vehicles for sale, enabling those unfamiliar with the auction process to purchase in a non-bidding environment. Buy before auction vehicles are priced below retail and are available for viewing and purchase during each individual branches hours of operation.

Pickles Auctions also offer Pickles Live, allowing buyers to participate in live onsite auctions from the comfort of their home or office. Buyers can view photographs of all the cars for sale, hear the auctioneer call the bids over the internet and join in the bidding with a click of a button.
