April 28, 2008 - Luxury footwear designer Kathryn Kerrigan whose handmade, Italian leather shoes are flying out of boutiques and were also recently featured in Lucky magazine, is delighted to be on hand at Alternatives Shoes on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
Kerrigan’s shoe company was initially built around her impressive stature- with height of six feet, Kerrigan has a shoe size to match: size 11, to be exact. Kerrigan, (a former college basketball player at Lake Forest College) her teammates and friends were tired of not finding shoes that were comfortable, stylish and well made in larger sizes. Sick of wearing the same frumpy flats to every occasion, Kerrigan took matters into her own hands and started her line, Kathryn Kerrigan, setting out to make gorgeous, comfortable shoes for tall women.
After writing a business plan during her MBA at Loyola University of Chicago in 2005, tall women everywhere have been ditching the dreary flat and slipping into stylish, high quality shoes. Inc.com magazine named her the #1 Female Entrepreneur Under 30 in America and her shoes are now gracing the feet of WNBA athletes, professional models and actresses. Never one to be selfish, Kerrigan offers her footwear to smaller footed sisters. Her line now starts at size six, and goes all the way up to size fifteen. In less than two years Kathryn has impressively sold shoes to high-end boutiques across the country.
