May 05, 2008 - Since the Postal Service began permitting consumers to design their own stamps in 2004, the demand for custom designed wedding stamps has been growing. Annie Slentz, postage designer, has seen a steady increase in personalized postage sales over the last year. Bridal postage now includes postage by month with a diverse selection of popular wedding colors and themes. Custom wedding postage designs can be customized for the bride and groom with their date, initials, or even part of their vows. Choices include wedding flowers such as calla lilies, roses, orchids, tulips and bouquets. Brides can also indulge in wedding cake postage with their initials, dates or other custom lettering.
Another line recently launched is themed postage for both nationality and destination weddings. Designs for Irish brides include rainbows, shamrocks and Irish verse. When considering custom wedding postage, keep in mind postal rates increase on May 12, 2008. 2 oz stamps (generally used for invitations) increase from .58 to .59 and 1 oz stamps (generally used for replies) increase from .41 to .42 cents.
