Penneco's participation in Education Improvement Tax Credit program helps students attend Harvest Baptist Academy

Penneco, an oil and gas exploration company, is donating $25,000 in 2009 and 2010 to The Children’s Scholarship Fund of PA – a non-profit scholarship organization that provides financial aid to qualified students who wish to attend faith-based elementary or secondary schools in Western Pennsylvania.

(1888PressRelease) November 02, 2009 - DELMONT, Pa. – Some local students will be able to attend Harvest Baptist Academy in Natrona Heights, thanks to Penneco’s participation in the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program for 2009 and 2010.

The EITC program allows companies to redirect tax dollars to scholarship organizations or educational improvement organizations, which in turn give the money to qualified families with financial needs. Through the EITC program, Penneco will redirect $25,000 tax dollars each year to The Children’s Scholarship Fund of PA – a non-profit scholarship organization that provides financial aid to qualified students who wish to attend faith-based elementary or secondary schools in Western Pennsylvania.

Penneco's Senior Vice-President, Mathew S. Jacobs, believes in the integrity of education and he and Penneco are passionate about helping students make the most of their educational experiences.

“We believe in school choice,” Jacobs said. “And this program gives us an opportunity to support a worthy cause.”
Penneco strongly believes that it’s vital to contribute to the community in a positive way, and the EITC program gave them an opportunity to act on that belief.

“We were excited to learn about the EITC program because it gives us an excellent opportunity to give back to the community and support families who want their children to have a faith-based education, but may not be able to afford it,” Jacobs said.
