Local artist, Paula Pearl, will be showing her work in the Alfa Art Gallery, 108 Church Street, New Brunswick, NJ. The opening reception will be held on Friday, April 4, 2008 from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Paula will also have open studio days at the gallery on April 1, 9, & 15 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. for anyone who would like to observe the process of creating a pastel painting.

New York, NY (1888PressRelease) April 04, 2008 - Paula’s Fiber Arts and Pastel Landscapes will be displayed at the reception and there will be a presentation of how she got started on her path to becoming an artist. This will begin with her study of photography at Syracuse University, which included a semester spent in London and follow her through her years of creating art quilts which lead to her passion for pastels. In the last few years, Paula has pursued her study of art at the duCret School of Art in Plainfield, the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit, and ArtSpace Studio and Gallery in Morristown, and has studied with Bill Senior, Rhoda Yanow, Dannielle Mick and Julie Friedman.

Paula goes on frequent field trips to find inspiration for her pastels. Although she may start paintings on location, she prefers to do her finishing work at home in her studio. She brings her camera with her everywhere she goes to capture those fleeting moments that can later turn into beautiful paintings. She favors quiet locations and is drawn to the meadows, fields, streams, woods and beaches of the Tri-state area. This award-winning artist’s pastels and fiber art have been shown in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Wisconsin, and many of her pieces are in private collections. Paula’s current work and a list of her recent exhibits can be found on her website www.paulapearlart.com

Her work is also currently being shown in the New Brunswick Free Library.
