Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease)
June 20, 2009 - Patrick Hanley, General Manager of Field Operations at DataPreserve®, was recognized with the Emeritus Certificate from the Southwest Job Network (SJN) (formerly known as the Scottsdale Job Network). The award is based on his efforts as co-founder and board member of the nonprofit organization that supports mid-career professionals during periods of career transition.
Founded in 2002 with just nineteen members, SJN has grown through word-of-mouth to serve over 2,000 members. The organization provides professionals with access to a powerful Phoenix Valley-wide professional network, education about job search processes, technology tools and resources, and moral support during difficult times. Over the year the group has held its twice-monthly meeting in various North Phoenix locations, and currently meets at the Temple Chai. Additional meetings are held in the Southeast Valley at various Maricopa Community Colleges.
“I appreciate the recognition of this award, but it is really a team effort.” states Hanley. “The most important thing is that we allow people to work together to get back on their feet in this economy. The group is effective because it is composed of people who have ‘been there’ and want to help others learn from their experiences. A look at the various meeting venues that we’ve had over the years gives you an indication of the broad appeal of our group.”
“We are proud to recognize Patrick Hanley and other Emeritus members who have given us value in terms of their time, business expertise, and connections.” explained Christine Vicari, Founder, Executive Director and President of the SJN. “Through their efforts we have been able to assist hundreds of professionals make productive contributions to our economy.”
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Arizona’s jobless rate was pegged at 7.7 percent in April, down slightly from 7.8 percent in March. Organizations such as SNJ play a part in helping people make the transitions and get back to work. Given the current plans for growth throughout the valley, the estimated membership base for SJN could significantly exceed 10,000 by the end of 2010. This growth and projected growth is not strictly due to the economic conditions; in fact, it is a reflection of the unique value provided by SJN to mid-career professionals who frequently have nowhere else to turn.
The award wasl be presented at the regularly scheduled meeting on June 16th at the Temple Chai, 4645 E Marilyn Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85032, phone (480) 513-1491.
