Partner Abuse Response Services Program to Replace Men's Group in Midland

  • (1888PressRelease) October 04, 2014 - Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County has been providing the Men's Group, a group program for men who are abusive and/or controlling in their personal relationships, for over 15 years in the Midland community. The Men's Group has assisted over 400 men in the North Simcoe community develop healthy relationship based on partnership and equality. This group program is being replaced by the PARS Program.

    The New Path Partner Assault Response Services Program (PARS) is a Domestic Violence Court Initiative which delivers a specialized community-based group intervention to offenders who have been mandated by the court to attend the PARS Program in response to a criminal charge involving domestic violence. The 12 session program, funded by the Ministry of the Attorney General's Ontario Victim Services, is a court-ordered sanction that provides offenders with an opportunity to examine their beliefs and attitudes towards domestic abuse and to learn non-abusive ways of resolving conflict. Funding is also provided to offer victims and/or current partners with safety planning, support and referrals to community resources, as well as information about the offender's progress.

New Path Youth and Family Services is a multi-service child and youth mental health center serving all of Simcoe County from 8 locations across the County.

    Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County will continue to provide services in the Midland area through their Walk-In Counselling Clinics and Individual, Couple and Family Counselling. The counselling services are open to anyone, regardless of religious affiliation or financial status, living or working in Simcoe County.
