What is Cancersafe® test?
It is a highly sophisticated blood test to detect early cancer. Tumor markers have long been used, either to screen for cancers or to monitor cancer treatments, to track and screen for recurrences. Cancersafe® test uses a panel of 10/11 tumor markers (10 for women, 11 for men). Tumor markers are molecules appearing in the blood in relation to development of some of the most important cancers. Measurement or identification of tumor markers is useful, because it can detect substances in the blood in early stages, a signal that further medical attention is needed.
Cancersafe® test can also be useful in follow-up if you are being treated for the illness. Variations of the tumor markers can be followed by regular tests. Slight to moderate increase may occur 6-12 months before clinical signs of relapse.
Who would perform the test?
Everybody, especially over 40, also young women, caring about breast and ovary. Perform it once a year, or more if required, building your baseline and data for future: your report (since handling all results) will include graphs, demonstrating the evolution of the 10 (or 11) tumor markers: any abnormal increases would be an indication for medical consultation and further investigation.
How to collect the samples?
A normal blood sample from the arm is all that is required. It is very convenient, non-invasive and easy to obtain.
