Pacific Golf & Turf Delivers Equipment Fleet to Kona Country Club in Time for Next Tee Off
John Deere golf fleet now a part of ongoing renovations at the historic Ocean Course in Hawaii.
- Honolulu, HI (1888PressRelease) May 20, 2015 - The completion of Kona Country Club's long-awaited renovation of their Ocean Course is bolstered by a new fleet of John Deere turf equipment provided by Pacific Golf & Turf.
Located on Keauhou Bay on the Big Island, the Ocean Course was the home of Hawaii's first monarch King Kamehameha, who is credited with conquering and unifying the islands. The course was designed by William Bell and first opened to public in 1966. Only six miles from the heart of the city of Kailua Kona, it features spectacular settings with both nines opening out to the ocean. The course has been closed since 2013 for renovations that include a new Toro irrigation system, bunkers, cart paths, and enhanced landscaping. Approximately eight to 10 acres of turf grass will be eliminated, and ornamental grasses will be introduced.
John Hamilton, owner and consulting agronomist from Golf Resources International, started working with the club on the project in December 2014 along with Golf Architect John Sanford from Sanford Golf Design. Hamilton negotiated and determined what equipment was essential for the course and then club management purchased an entire 18 hole John Deere fleet of turf equipment from Pacific Golf & Turf that includes greens mowers, fairway mowers, tractors, and aerators, just to name a few.
