Pacific Artisans Presents Video Archives Of Artisans And Artists

Artisan and Artist self produced videos to be available 24/7

(1888PressRelease) June 09, 2006 - San Jose, CA June 8, 2006 – Pacific Artisans (http:www.pacificartisans.net), the leading online community for artisans, artists and consumers announces the addition of the Video Archives section to its website today.

The initial self produced videos to be presented on the Pacific Artisans site are from: Don Doerfler – painter and original fine print make; Rose Hughes – quilt maker; and Andrew Purchin – painter. See what Don says about Pacific Artisans and Inspiration at http://www.pacificartisans.net/don-doerfler.html

“The purpose of these videos is to bring the artisans and artists closer to the consumer and closer to each other. It is very important that these videos be self produced by the artisans and artists,” said Elliott Dahan, CEO of Pacific Artisans. “We are presenting unique and individual works and the consumer wants to know who made it and why do they do what they do. Just showing thumbnail screenshots, while very helpful, isn’t nearly enough.”

Kevin Delaney in a June 1, 2006 article in the Wall Street Journal (NYSE: DJ) wrote, “Consumers viewed 3.7 billion Web video streams in March, with each viewer watching around 100 minutes of video content on average, according to research firm comScore Networks Inc.

The large number of user-generated sites that have launched in the past year is a testament to the overwhelming interest people have in creating and sharing videos online," Google (nasdaq: GOOG) said in a statement. Video-sharing start-up YouTube said consumers watch more than 50 million videos a day on its site and upload more than 50,000 videos to YouTube daily.

New features on the Yahoo (nasdaq: YHOO) video service include allowing users to watch groups of videos related by source or topic and mark those "channels" for updates and future viewing. Yahoo said there are tens of millions of videos available through its video service, including links to videos on other Web sites such as YouTube and Google Video.”

When asked what role broadcast TV would have in Pacific Artisan’s video plans, Dahan answered, “Broadcast TV and Internet TV are two distinct entities with two different strengths and weaknesses. The point is to treat them as equals, to maximize their synergy and then have each promote the other. It is essential to realize that Commerce + Community as Content = Entertainment. Our end goal at Pacific Artisans is to be on both broadcast TV and Internet TV in a directed commercial venture.
