In addition, lots of car and motorbike miniature replica models are exhibited to fill your heart’s content.
Mr. Kwanchai Paphatphong, President of Vintage Car Club of Thailand, said, “The Vintage Car Concours has been held consecutively up to this 32nd year it is the first time that the Club entitles the prizes ”The Glossy Heritage Awards 2008” with the slogan “The Honour of Vintage Car, the Pride of Restoration Work” to incentivize conservationists to restore and maintain vintage cars so that they become precious national heritage”.
“The Glossy Heritage Awards 2008 is more special and grander than in any year past for several reasons. Firstly, the event this year is a collaboration between the Club and Royal Paragon Hall, plus cooperation extended by many important organizations such as the Department of Land Transport, Thailand Post Co., Ltd., National Film Archive of Thailand, Office of Contemporary Art And Culture under the Ministry Of Culture, the Motorcycle Club for Conserving and Developing Vintage Motorbikes of Thailand under the Foundation for Conserving and Developing Aircraft of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, and Ling Noi Club.”
”Secondly, this year is the first time that the event is held at Siam Paragon, which is right downtown and easier to reach target groups both Thais and foreigners. Lastly, thanks to the cooperation of the various organizations as mentioned before, the event this year has diversity and completeness, for example, issuance of new format driving license service, having your photograph taken with a vintage car and put on a personal postage stamp, exhibition of drive-in theatre showing period films, portrait drawing with vintage car, exhibition of rare collectibles by Ai-Suriya-sruang Sappasing Sasomsatan, vintage car auction, Queen Concours D’Elegance, Vintage Dance 2008, plus seminars to disseminate knowledge on many useful topics,” Mr. Kwanchai added.
Mr. Arun Theng, General Manager of The Royal Paragon Enterprise Ltd., General Manager of the Royal Paragon Hall Exhibition and Convention Center, said, “Royal Paragon Hall was built from the dream of the management to provide a venue for hosting a quality event. So it appears that we and Vintage Car Club of Thailand dream in the same direction as regards creating a quality exhibition, rare to see in Thailand especially if it is about vintage cars. So when the Vintage Car concours is moved to Royal Paragon Hall, it is a perfect fit.”
“Royal Paragon Hall is ready in every way, the venue is located in Siam Paragon Shopping Complex which is conveniently accessible whether by personal transport or BTS train with station in front of Siam Paragon. Its indoor car park can accommodate over four thousand cars. The target groups who come to walk at Siam Paragon have a lifestyle of spending their spare time on whatever they love, and vintage cars are passions for many. Besides we have professional staff to render excellent service to every visitor. I am therefore most confident that The Glossy Heritage Awards 2008 will be an important stage for vintage car enthusiasts and the general public,” Mr. Arun said in parting.
