January 19, 2008 - Oshawa, Ontario-- Oshawa Turul Soccer Club (“Turul”), an elite competitive soccer organization, and Neighbourhood Association Sports Committee (“NASC”), a volunteer organization that operates local house league soccer programs, today announced the signing of a landmark affiliation agreement.
The two organizations will cooperate on various levels to promote the sport of soccer in Oshawa. The mutual cooperation agreement will strengthen both parties programs. Turul will design clinics and special developmental camps for NASC coaches and players. Oshawa Turul Soccer Club president, Roger Mittag said, “We believe this strategic alliance will provide an opportunity for many NASC players to learn and develop their skills. As an elite competitive soccer club, we feel that it is in everyone’s best interest to foster the game of soccer. Our executives, coaches and volunteers are fully behind this project.“
The agreement facilitates the transfer of NASC house league soccer players during the season. “Many NASC players will be given a chance to play competitive soccer through our emergency call up program when our teams are short players due to illness, vacation, injury or other. It also gives NASC players an avenue for future progression. We believe our club coaches and players will be proud to share their dedication and passion with the players and coaches from NASC and we look forward to working closely with them to bring quality soccer programming to Oshawa", said Mittag.
NASC president Peter Drake added, “We are delighted to enter into this agreement in order to strengthen soccer in our community. We hope to bring greater opportunities to our players and coaches through our association with Oshawa Turul Soccer Club.”
Oshawa Turul Soccer Club is enjoying a huge revival due to the growth of youth soccer, the popularity of professional teams such as Toronto FC, community alliances and interest from young people in joining an affordable elite soccer program. "We are aggressively recruiting talent that will make us stronger on and off the field. We are looking for sponsors, volunteers, coaches and new teams that will join us in developing soccer within the community. Visit our website at www.oshawaturul.com to contact us.
