  • (1888PressRelease) February 11, 2015 - This isn't the first time the Oregon Oldtime Fiddlers' Association has helped Oregon celebrate its annul birthday party, but it is the first time that it is the 50th Anniversary of the OOTFA. After 50 years of musical service to Oregon citizens, a look into the present reveals that the OOTFA has maintained its ongoing mission and purpose, which is, "To promote, preserve and perpetuate Old Time Fiddling and Old Time music."

OOTFA not only performs at such events as the Annual Oregon Birthday party but performs all over the state on a weekly and monthly basis for Oregon citizens fulfilling well over 10,000 hours of performing, teaching and musical service to Oregon citizens annually.

State President Roland White says, "Oldtime fiddling is indeed an American Cultural Heritage and the OOTFA is committed to preserving and promoting the music for now and in the future. OOTFA administers the Kielhorn Endowment that provided tuition and scholarships to over 100 Oregon youth this past year for fiddle camps, lessons and workshops." White continues, "This will insure that we have a strong crop of young fiddlers to carry forth the Oldtime Fiddling tradition."

The OOTFA is a 503(c) Non-Profit organization only accepting donations for their performances. For more information on how to join or donate please visit www dot ootfaJoinDonate dot com.

Promoted by The Oregon State Legislature and the Oregon State Capitol Foundation the Birthday organizers have a full slate of events that will feature exhibits of Historic objects from Covered Wagons to Living History enactments, special kids activities, live musical performances and a scrumptious birthday cake. The event runs on Saturday February 14th from 11 am to 3 pm at the State Capital building.
