Opening the Floodgates: Nosnibor Gets Existential in Latest Publication

Christopher Nosnibor’s 2009 pamphlet series continues with the publication of ‘Before the Flood’ on June 30th.

(1888PressRelease) June 04, 2009 - ‘Before the Flood’ follows ‘Lust for Death’ and will be published in a run of just 25 copies, available exclusively from christophernosnibor.co.uk. While ‘Lust for Death’ presented a chronological narrative of a single sequence of events from three different perspectives, ‘Before the Flood’ contains no action, no movemen,t and no characters, instead taking the form of an epic monologue. Delivered as an epic monologue, the anonymous narrator bares his soul and muses on the world as the devastating effects of global warming begin to take hold and human existence on earth is threatened.

Following on from the underground success of his cut-up anti-novel ‘THE PLAGIARIST’ and the limited edition pamphlet ‘A Call for Submission’ in 2008, Christopher Nosnibor is publishing a short story in A5 pamphlet form in each quarter of 2009. Each will be available in a strictly limited edition of just 25 copies, and will only be available via christophernosnibor.co.uk

Across the series, Christopher will explore various themes form a range of angles, and each story will take a very different form from the others. However, the presentation and form will be such as to provide a unified whole in keeping with the idea of the publications forming a series designed to push the parameters of established narrative forms.

Excerpt:
It is so easy to lose time. Not to lose track of time, but for time to simply evaporate, to lose time to inertia, to the mundaneties of everyday work and living. So easy for time to disappear, to slip between the cracks in the fabric of existence. Not time the human construct, the conceptual measurement enforced in history around which that history is formulated and fabricated and mythologised and by which society operated, around which human society revolved since the dawn of constructed time – not actual time, but time measured. Not time marked by the passing of hours, seconds and minutes, but calculable by the counting of tangibles, the passing of light and dark, moons and seasons, the aging process. It’s so easy to become immersed in mere existence that time, valuable time, is lost, lost forever, to nothing. And time lost is time irreclaimable, lost forever.
