Centennial, CO - Award-winning writer/filmmaker, Donald L. Vasicek, with his film company, Olympus Films+, LLC, has launched "Ghosts of Sand Creek", a feature documentary film. Vasicek, having written, directed, and produced, the award-winning "The Sand Creek Massacre" documentary film, has put together an impressive and accomplished group of people to help him with the project.
Vasicek says, "Although I am unable to name names at thispoint in time, I can say that a major motion picture actor, the consummate Colorado history author and professor, an award-winning PBS and documentary film composer, a tack and equipment company with credits in movies such as "The Missing", "The Alamo",
"Ride With The Devil", and "Wild, Wild, Wild West", a produced Hollywood screenwriter, a prominent and Oscar-winning PBS, documentary, and feature film cinematographer and filmmaker, an award-winning network and cable cinematographer, an Emmy nominated PBS writer/producer and The Sand Creek Massacre Descendants' Trust which is composed of 15,000 members, have joined the project."
Vasicek went on to say that "'Ghosts of Sand Creek' will highlight the peace treaties which will show the gradual reduction of 51 million acres on which the Cheyenne people lived, before the 1825 Friendship Treaty through the 1890 Dawes Act which permanently cast them on 160 acres each in Oklahoma. The great American West will be featured in the film juxtaposed to the Cheyenne people's quest for peace and to live on this earth forever. There will be a recreation of the Sand Creek Massacre.
The Cheyenne point-of-view, as based on their oral histories, will drive the film."
