Odd And Unusual: Artist-Centric Oddica Drawn Up Different

T-shirts, Oddica, Business Model, Licensing, Royalties, Screenprinting, Business Model, E-commerce, Apparel, Artists, Art, Design

(1888PressRelease) May 23, 2006 - SIGNAL HILL, CA — Oddica launches its odd and unusual T-shirt Brand with a Business Model drawn up by Artists, and more than 50 Original T-shirt Designs, 17 of which are available online at www.Oddica.com.

At launch, Oddica has more than 30 Artists on board, and a compelling Artist-centric Business Model: Oddica is giving Artists, as a group, 41 percent of the company’s Net Profits in the form of lifetime Annual Royalties, and 41 percent of company Equity.

In addition to the Annual Royalties, Artists will work on a Commission Model that pays them a minimum of $500 per Design, plus $500 for a Reprint, plus a host of other perks.

Among T-shirt companies, the Oddica Program is unprecedented.

The mix of established Artists includes Alan Forbes, Jordan Crane, Audrey Kawasaki, and The Pizz, to name a few. But the talent pool is deep, with too many great Artists to name in a single paragraph.*

Three of the Oddica founders have worked as T-shirt Designers, and experienced a climate where Spec Work and Work-For-Hire is the rule, not the exception. They decided to set a higher standard. They talked with Artists, listened, and came out with something Different.

And not only in the Business Model.

Oddica T-shirts are mailed in specially printed Flexible Packages, which are heat-sealed on one end and ‘ziplocked’ on the other; similar packaging is used for perishable food. Each shirt is screenprinted front and back, using Water-Based ink instead of Plastisol. The Water-Based ink is soft to the touch and nicely complements the soft American Apparel® Fine Jersey combed cotton T-shirts.

Each Oddica T-shirt will also come with a Backpack Button (1 3/4 inches round), Postcards, Stickers, and a special Artist Card that looks like a retro Library Card. Besides Artist name and Title, the Library Card will feature the Dewey Decimal number relating to the design + it will be hand-printed with the Customer Name and stamped with the Date of Purchase.

Oddica T-shirts will retail for $20, and be sold primarily online.
