September 02, 2009 - Cary NC - The ObamaSuggestionBox.com Health Care survey closed on August 30, 2009 after a 2 week random email poll. The email poll was taken by 933 people in an effort to test the real pulse of Americans on this controversial subject. . There were 13 questions. Here is a sampling of responses of what people in America are saying:
* Only 14% of respondents think the health care plan should be approved immediately, 21% say approve only after some more amending of the plan.
* President Obama's overall approval rating is 46%.
* 55% of the respondents agree that a person of sound mind should be able to peacefully end their lives under a doctor's supervision when they become of very old age, disabled, or have a debilitating disease like cancer.
* 97% of respondents are outraged, concerned, or shocked that certain government officials would not have to participate in the plan. 73% said these officials are an elitist group who are separating themselves from the rest of us.
* 61% of respondents support a 10% across the board decrease in the Federal budget to support a health care plan, with any extra money going toward replenishing social security assets.
* Over 70% of respondents say employers should be required to provide health benefits, and over 50% want to include part timers to avoid companies hiring part timers as a loophole.
Write in comments were numerous. One person went to school with Hillary Clinton, graduated with an MS with honors, and today cannot afford health insurance. They had a lot to say. So did everybody else. Another person said "Slow down and let us live".
The additional questions, specific answer breakdown, and write in comments show that the concerns of Americans, which we have seen erupting in town hall meetings, are indeed very deep rooted. Information from the survey may be freely copied and distributed as indicated on the site.
