- Oakland, CA (1888PressRelease) October 21, 2012 - Oakland Digital will be hosting their Third Annual Inspiration Awards 2012 gala on December 6, 2012 from 6-9pm at Preservation Park's Nile Hall (668 13th Street) in Oakland, CA. This annual event honors recipients of Oakland Digital's award, which pays tribute to prominent local Bay Area pioneers who have made substantial contributions to the community through their innovation and dedication to social good.
Oakland Digital is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that provides online marketing and Internet education for local, small business owners. Oakland Digital aims to educate, inspire, and empower underserved, diverse communities to participate in the digital economy. Founded in 2009, Oakland Digital has earned the respect and admiration of many leaders in educational and civic affairs for its high degree of community involvement; it has brought progressive new ideas to better serve the citizens of Oakland. Oakland Digital's third annual awards gala, Inspiration Awards 2012, will honor Actress Bre'ly Evans; Mary Grove, Head of Global Entrepreneurship Outreach at Google; and Ask.com's CEO Doug Leeds. Oakland Digital will highlight their outstanding achievements and show gratitude for their positive impact upon the Bay Area and beyond. World-renown Oakland entrepreneur, MC Hammer is kicking-off the ceremony. Confirmed special guests include: Oakland Mayor Jean Quan, and Dr. Andreas Weigend (former Chief Scientist at Amazon.com). Event mistress of ceremonies, Kara Tsuboi, (Reporter for Oakland A's / CNET) will be facilitating the gala.
Inspiration Awards 2012 will inspire guests, generate awareness of the digital divide and need for digital literacy education, and pay tribute to the honorable recipients of the awards.
