September 10, 2009 - Cincinnati, OH – Endoscopic Surgery such as ureteroscopy and small joint arthroscopy are delicate procedures viewed on a video monitor by the Surgeon and Assistant. They are demanding technically, requiring precise manipulation of tissue using fine instruments inside small ports, while viewing the image on the screen. These technical maneuvers are similar to trying to insert a wire into a keyhole from twenty inches away. Endoscopic surgical procedures require clear visualization of the anatomy. Adding to the challenge are tight spaces inside the body, and a cloudy image caused by tissue, blood and other fluids. It is essential that the surgeon have precise control of irrigation fluid to open up tight spaces, and clear away debris in his field-of-view.
Flo-Assist ® is a new single use irrigation system that has received product registrations with the US- FDA, European - CE, and Canadian Health License. It is the first disposable irrigation set that is foot pedal controlled. With dual IV bag spikes, drip chamber, foot pedal, and ample tubing length, its design doubles as a cystoscopy tubing set and a ureteroscopy tubing set, and can be used in both phases of the ureteroscopy.
